An enclosed city in the shape of a rectangle located approximately 30km to the southeast of Madaba, Umm Ar-Rasas was mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments. Fortified by the Romans, local Christians continued to embellish it with mosaics of a Byzantine-style up to 100 years after the start of the Muslim Umayyad rule-making it a popular stop on guided tours to Jordan with America Israel Travel.
Those that travel to Umm Ar-Rasas during Jordan travel can also see the recently unearthed Church of Saint Stephen just outside the city walls. There, travelers can see the amazingly preserved mosaic floor, which is second only to the globally famous Madaba mosaic map.
America Israel Travel would like to note that Umm Ar-Rasas is an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
