17 Days Program - Turkey / Greece / Israel

Day 1 - Depart USA to Istanbul

 

Day 2  - Arrival in Istanbul

Arrive in Istanbul this morning. At the arrival hall you will meet our guide and driver and the journey of your lifetime is about to begin. We will start our tour with a city tour of Istanbul. We visit the Church of St. Saviour in Chora (Kariye Camii) which is located at the city walls and famous for its mosaics and frescoes. Haghia Sophia -the church of the Divine Wisdom- which was changed into a mosque and later to a museum. We end the day with a visit to the Hippodrome - the former center of sports and political activities. After dinner free time for shopping at the Grand Bazaar. Overnight: Istanbul

Day 3 - Izmir/ Smyrna  

Short fly to Izmir/ Smyrna. Morning arrival in Izmir. Visit the Church of St. Polycarp which is the oldest church in ancient Smyrna, it symbolized the community of the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse (Smyrna Revelation 2:8-11). Then visit Alexander the Great’s Velvet Castle, overlooking the Bay of Izmir. Overnight: Izmir
 
Day 4 - Izmir / Pergamon / Thyatira /Izmir
Visit Pergamum (Pergamon Revelation 2:12-17), the Acropolis and the Asclepion, then drive to Akhisar to visit the Church of ancient Thyatira (Thyatira Revelation 2:18-29 Acts 16:14). Overnight: Izmir

Day 5 - Izmir/ Sardes / Philadelphia/ Pamukkale
Drive to Sardes (Sardes Revelation 3:1-6), ancient capital of the Lydian’s and visit the Church of Sardis. Continue to Alasehir where the ancient Philadelphia Church is located (Philadelphia Revelation 3:7-13). Walk the streets of Philadelphia, then proceed to Pamukkale, the white Cotton Castle with its lime cascades of the Roman spa. See the ancient city of Hierapolis. Day 6 - Pamukkale / Laodicea / Aphrodisias / Kusadasi
Morning visit to Eskihisar, the ancient Laodicea (Laodicea Revelation 3:14-22), then drive to Aphrodisias, the city of the Goddess of Love, see the well preserved Stadium, The Temple of Aphrodite, The Odeon, The Theater, Agora and Hadrian's Bath. Overnight: Kusadasi


Day  - Kusadasi / Ephesus
Full day visit to the unforgettable remains of Ephesus (Ephesus Revelation 1:11:2:1-7 Acts 18:19-28:19), the House of Virgin Mary, The Archeological Museum and the Basilica of St. John. Overnight: Kusadasi


Day 8 - Kusadasi to the Island of Patmos 

The Island in Greece where John was held captive and the Book of Revelation was written and revealed to John from God. Beautiful boat ride to the Island on the Mediterranean Sea. Upon arrival, we visit the Monastery of St. John the Evangelist and the Cave of the Apocalypse. After lunch and free time we take our boat for the trip back to Kusadasi, Turkey.  Overnigh: Kusadasi

 

Day 9 - Kusadasi / Izmir / Tel Aviv (Israel)

Transfer to Izmir International airport. Turkish Airlines flight to Tel Aviv (via Istanbul).  Upon our arrival at the Tel Aviv (around 3:30pm) airport, you will be met by our representative to assist you through security & customs. At the arrival hall you will meet our guide and driver. We will check in our hotel in Tel Aviv, situated on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. A Welcome Dinner will be served at our hotel.  After dinner, walk on the beach to view the beautiful Mediterranean Sea.  Overnight: Tel Aviv

Day 10 - Tel Aviv / Galilee

Our first day in Israel begins with a visit to Caesarea by the Mediterranean Sea. It is here that Cornelius the Centurion and his household were saved and baptized (Acts 10), and it was also where Paul made his defense before Festus and King Agrippa prior to his final journey to Rome (Acts 25 & 26). Continue to Mount Carmel, where Elijah issued his challenge to the False Prophets. From here, we will have a breathtaking panorama view over Haifa Bay and western Galilee. We will continue to Megiddo and the Valley of Armageddon (Revelation 16), site of the final battle. Than, on to Nazareth, where Jesus spent the silent years of his life. From Nazareth, through Cana, the road winds down to Tiberias and the beautiful Sea of Galilee. Return to the hotel for dinner. Overnight: Sea of Galilee

Day 11- Mount of Beatitudes / Capernaum / Tabgha / Kursi / Yardenit

Following breakfast, we will start the day with a worship service on the Sermon on the Mount, the Mount of Beatitudes. We will then visit St. Peter's Primacy before traveling to the 2000 year old remains of Capernaum (Luke 4). Stand in what is left of the synagogue in which Jesus ministered.  It was from this city that Jesus did most of his Galilean ministry, where he performed many miracles, and where Peter’s mother-in-law lived and was healed. We then proceed to visit Tabgha where 5,000 were fed by Jesus and where the miracle of the multiplication of fish and loaves took place. We’ll see Kursi where Jesus cast the demons into pigs that ran into the sea (Matt.8:28-33). Then on to Ein Gev, where we will be served a traditional fish lunch. After lunch we'll board a boat and ride across the Sea of Galilee. We will end the day with a visit to Yardenit, the traditional baptismal site on the Jordan River for a special time of baptism. We will drive back to our hotel for dinner. Overnight: Sea of Galilee

 

Day 12 - Golan Heights / Banias  Philippi / Hazor / Nof Ginnosar / Galilee Experience

Following breakfast, we will depart our hotel to the Golan Heights and then travel to the northernmost areas of Israel. We will drive across the top of the Golan Heights, and than visit the Banias–ancient Caesarea Philippi–where Jesus declared “I will build my church.” We continue to the tranquil Dan natural reservation. After lunch we will visit the ancient town of Hazor.  This city served as an important first line of defense against armies attacking Israel from the north. We will also have an opportunity to view “the Jesus Boat” at Nof Ginnosar.  Afterwards we return to the hotel for a relaxing evening and dinner. Following dinner, we will enjoy a video history of the region at the Galilee Experience. Return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 13 - Beit Shean / Qumran / Dead Sea / Masada / Ein Gedi / Jerusalem

We proceed through the city of Beit Shean one of the earliest and most important cities in Israel from the time of the Canaanites. Today the ancient city of Beth Shean is a remarkable archeological site. It was here that after defeating Saul and his sons on Mount Gilboa, the Philistines hanged their bodies on the walls of Beth Shean (1 Samuel 31).

We continue through the Jordan Valley and pass by Jericho, the first city conquered by the Israelites in the Promised Land. We continue to the lowest place on earth – the Dead Sea. One of our stops will be Qumran, site of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls and an ancient Essene community. We will continue past the shores of the Dead Sea and arrive at Masada, the spectacular mountaintop fortress built by Herod, famous for being the last stronghold of the Jewish rebellion against the Romans. From the top of the Masada, the Roman camps and siege ramps can be seen. If time permits, we will visit the oasis of Ein Gedi, where David hid in a cave when running from Saul (1 Samuel 23). It was here that David composed several of the Psalms.  We will end our touring for the day at the Dead Sea where we can feel the salty water or take a swim before driving up to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. Day 14 - Old City Jerusalem

Following breakfast we begin our first day of touring by boarding our motor coaches and head to the top of the Mount of Olives and stand where our Lord ascended into heaven (Acts 1). See olive trees on the Mount of Olives (Luke 19, 2 Samuel 15) that date back to the time of Christ. We'll take the historic Palm Sunday road down to the Garden of Gethsemene (John 18).  After lunch, we will take a walk up on the ancient walls of Jerusalem, ending at the Upper Room welcoming a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit.  We will worship in the Upper Room (Luke 22) and tour St. Peter in Gallicantu, site of Caiaphas the high priest's house (John 18). Then we will travel through the Jewish Quarter, walking through some of the ancient city and view the shops and unique way that the ancient customs and lifestyles maintained. We continue on to the Pool of Bethesda (John 4) and to the Sisters of Zion Church, where Jesus was whipped. Return to our hotel for dinner.

Overnight: Jerusalem

 

Day 15 - Old City Jerusalem

Begin the day in the new part of Jerusalem by visiting a scale model of the city set in New Testament Times, including the Second Temple.  Continue via the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) and downtown Jerusalem.  We will visit the Holocaust Museum -Yad Vashem and the Shrine of the Book where the Dead Sea Scrolls collection displays the authenticity of God's eternal Word. Following lunch, we will a visit to the Western Wall and the Western Wall Tunnels, running along the base of the Western Wall. We continue to the Southern Steps, the archaeological reconstruction of the Temple Steps where Jesus walked so often. At the Davison center, we will see a 3D presentation of the second temple period. We will end the tour with a unique visit to the Garden Tomb, where we will have a quiet prayer and share the Lord ’s Supper. Overnight: Jerusalem

Day 16 - Free day in Jerusalem

Free day in Jerusalem for personal enjoyment & shopping. Farwell Dinner and preparation for a very early flight back to the U.S the following morning.Overnight: Jerusalem

 

Day 17 - Departure from Israel - Arrival in the U.S.A

After breakfast transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for your transatlantic flight back to the U.S.A
