Some Jewish tours of Israel include less obvious sites such as that of Yodfat. If you're a fan of Roman history or read Josephus (whose writings bring to live places such as the Temple, Jerusalem, Caesarea, Massada and the Galilee mountain town he referred to as Jotapta), this is a stop you cannot miss. The general of the Great Revolt of the Jews against Roman rule from 66-70CE, Josephus was captured by Romans at one point. Josephus took in the battle below from the top of the mound where he was. The cisterns and caves of Yodfat have an important part of the story of Josephus' capture and eventual suicide pact. Remains of the Roman wall can be viewed from the northern side of the mound along with many other visually pleasant sights-vistas, carob and oak groves, olive orchards and the Jewish National Fund pine forests. A trip to Yodfat is a wonderful experience that should be had when taking a Jewish Israel tour.
