Tomb of Rabbi Meir Ba'al Haness

A very popular stop on Jewish tours to Israel, the Tomb of Rabbi Meir Ba'al Haness has become a particularly special place to pray for divine intervention such as healing. Rabbi Meir's nickname was Ba'al Haness, which means "miracle worker". It became his nickname as a result of a Talmudic story which tells the tale of how he saved his sister-in-law from the Romans by using subterfuge and uttering the prayer, "God of Meir - answer me." Located near the Tiberias hot springs, Rabbi Meri Ba'al Haness's is a popular stop during travel in Israel. Interestingly, Rabbi Meir's wife, Bruria, is mentioned in the Talmud because of how learned she was in the Torah. Many celebrations and occasions draw individuals to Rabbi Meir's tomb. The biggest celebration of all is on the anniversary of his death, which falls on the 14th of the Hebrew month of Lyar, which is a month after Passover eve.
