Tel Shiloh

Tel Shiloh, a place recognized for its significance to the Jewish people, is a must for Israel tours. Tel Shiloh is where the tribe of Ephraim brought the Tabernacle (Josh 18:1), making it a central religious location for Israelites before Jerusalem. When you visit Tel Shiloh, you'll be able to take in the view of the valley on your way to the mound where the summer grape harvesting festival took place when the daughters of Shiloh took part in dancing while the men of Benjamin chose brides from the lot (Judges 21:15-23). Those on Jewish tours of Israel who stop at Tel Shiloh can stand in the same spot where it is believed by some scholars that the Tabernacle stood! This is the same spot where it is believed that Hannah came to pray for her son, Samuel, who she dedicated to the Tabernacle and later brought back to serve in the Tabernacle. The Ark was taken from Shiloh into battle and lost at one point to the Philistines. You can view a model of the Tabernacle and view a wonderful presentation at the visitor center at Tel Shiloh to learn more.
