If you want to experience some of the natural wonders of Israel, Hula Valley is a wonderful place to begin your trip to Israel. Back in the 50s a large portion of the valley was actually under the waters of Hula Lake and the nearby swamp! A project was initiated in an effort to drain the swamps so that additional agricultural land would be available, while the lake was turned into a nature reserve. The plants and animals in Hula Valley are exceptional and certainly worth the trip to see. However, in the 90s there was a slight bump in the road when part of the valley became flooded again when it experienced heavy rains. It was determined that the flooded areas should be left as they were and that the surrounding areas should be better developed. Agmon HaHula is the new site, which quickly became the home of many of the wonderful native birds. Agmon HaHula has a fabulous network of walking paths and places for observation, making it a relaxing place to stop on Israel escorted tours. There is certainly no shortage of water in the valley, so it comes as no surprise that there are multiple springs and rivers in the valley-Ein Tina, Jakhula, Dan, Hermon, Snir and the Jordan. There are also a number of different nature reserves-Banias, Tel Dan and HaTanur. The Hula Valley has many kibbutzim and moshavim as well as the interesting city of Kiryat Shmona. All of these sites bring in many tourists from all over who have their choices of the many luxurious hotels and welcoming hostels in the area.
