Nahariya

If you would like to visit a city on your trip to Israel that has everything you could want and more, Nahariya is the perfect place to go! Nahariya is a unique city, consisting of a network of lovely little shops and restaurants complimented by beautiful beaches. As a result, Nahariya is a very popular destination for both locals and vacationers. The coastal city sitting the furthest north in Israel, Nahariya changed significantly when industry and tourism was brought to the city in 1934 by German immigrants. The innovation present in Nahariya is present to all who visit the city, delighting visitors year-round. Sderot HaGa'aton is the main road in Nahariya, passing east to west in the city. One of the unique aspects to Nahariya's charm is the Ga'aton River, which flows through the center of the main way, which is lined with lovely shops, coffee houses and horse-drawn carriages (which have become the symbol of Nahariya). Tourists on Israel tours can take lovely drives through the city in one of the carriages, which is a wonderful experience. In addition to horse-drawn carriages, visitors can take trains throughout the summer in the evenings. Nahariya's train is a replica locomotive complete with wagonettes, which can carry up to 50 passengers (attracting many families). The train leaves from Sderot HaGa'aton and goes back and forth to the beach.

Nahariya is chock full of wonderful places to visit on guided tours of Israel. Bielefeld Street is the home of a Byzantine church with a wonderful mosaic floor. The Nahariya Historical Museum is located in Beit Liberman (21 Gdud Street), which was built in 1860.
