For history buffs on tours of Israel, you must make a point to stop at Herzliya (pronounced Hertselia), which was named after the founder of the World Zionist Federation and Jewish State-visionary-Theodore Herzl. Herzliya offers its visitors an absolutely amazing beachfront that is popular with both tourists and locals alike. Visitors can also take advantage of the wealth of restaurants and hotels, too. This city has an industrial zone that is mostly composed of high-tech companies, which employ the majority of the residents. Herzliya is also known for its night life and shopping, giving the city a special atmosphere of vivacity. Founded in 1924 as a moshav, this once farm-focused community has developed into a fabulously exciting city. The population has tripled since 1960 when it was first declared a city. Among its attractions is the museum of Herzliya's history, which is located in one of the original houses located in the city on Ha-Nadiv St. Herzliya also has its own Museum of Art, which is located in the Yad Le-Banim military memorial building. If you visit Herzliya on your trip to Israel, it's nice to note that there are other places of interesting nearby, such as the Muslim holy site, Sidna Ali, which has the tomb of Ali ibn Alil. Tel Arsaf (Arsuf) is an archeological site where the Apollonia National Park was built not long ago. There are many other places in and around Herzliya that are worth learning more about prior to leaving for your trip to Israel.
