Sepphoris

Many people stop during their tours to Israel to see Sepphoris as it is not too far from Nazareth and has become a national park and important New Testament site. A follower of Jesus and wife to Cuza (Luke 8:3) may have come from Sepphoris, which was the regional capital of Herod whose steward was Cuza. Because the town was under construction during Jesus' childhood and Joseph was a carpenter, it is believed that Joseph and maybe even Jesus may have taken part in building it. There is now a beautifully reconstructed villa with a theater, street markets and more to show off what daily life in Roman times was like. The biblical commentary, the Mishnah, was codified in the 3rd century in Sepphoris. Many visitors enjoy looking at the symbols in the 6th century mosaic in the synagogue, which relay a story of redemption and faith.
