The Russian Orthodox Church at Ein Kerem has special ties to the story of Jesus as it is located in the "village in the hill country of Judea" where Mary visited Elizabeth while they were both pregnant (Luke 1:39), making it an ideal stop during tours of Israel. Currently, the convent located above Mary's Spring in the center of Ein Karem is undergoing renovation that are going beautifully. The tiny, vibrant chapel was built around a rock that is said to have served as a pulpit to Ein Kerem native John the Baptist. In addition to the lovely chapel, visitors on a pilgrimage to Israel will enjoy the natural beautiful surrounding this area.
