Hazor

Israel Holy Land tours often focus on cities with great historical and symbolic meaning, such as Hazor. Hazor, "the head of all those kingdoms" (Joshua 11:10), is the location where Joshua won his victory over the Canaanites, now symbolizing the ability of the weak to overcome the powerful. Hazor, one of the most important cities of the Near East, overlooks the modern highway that lies between the Sea of Galilee and Caesarea Philippi. Hazor controlled this ancient highway many years ago, too. Hazor has many biblical ties, which delight those on Israel Christian tours. Some of the most interesting aspects include the gates of Solomon (1 Kings 9:15), Ahab's forward-thinking water system, a High Place from the time of Judges and the Israelite citadel. Visitors now can view the staircase that was recently discovered, which connects the upper and lower cities. Hazor is recognized for its rich history and has found its way on the prestigious list by UNESCO of World Heritage Sites.

Joshua Chapter 11:13-14

13 But none of the cities that stood on mounds did Israel burn, except Hazor only; that Joshua burned. 14 And all the spoil of these cities and the cattle, the people of Israel took for their booty; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, and they did not leave any that breathed.
