Christ Church

When you travel to Israel there will be many wonderful places to visit such as Christ Church, which is located near Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem. Established in the 19th century, it was the first Protestant church in the Middle East. Build by the Church of England after the land was bought in 1833, Christ Church still holds regular services in several different languages and even runs a quaint guesthouse for visitors. It is unlike many churches, possessing a Neo-Gothic style and no bold Christian symbols, though it has many Old Testament icons. For example, its beautiful stained glass windows feature the Seven Species of Deuteronomy 8:8, the Ten Commandments are featured in Hebrew behind the altar and the paneling behind the altar is similar to the Torah ark in a synagogue.
