6 Days Classical Greece with Olympia

Visits to Athens - Mycenae - Epidaurus - Nafplion - Olympia – Delphi

Day 1 (Friday or Sunday): Arrival to Athens. Transfer on your own to the hotel. Overnight.

Day 2: In the morning after breakfast we drive to the Corinthian Canal, short stop for photos. Continue to EPIDAURUS (visit the archaeological site and the Theatre famous for its remarkable acoustics) and then on to NAFPLION (short stop). Drive to MYCENAE where you visit the archaeological site and then depart for OLYMPIA through the central Peloponnese area passing the cities of MEGALOPOLIS and TRIPOLIS, arrive in OLYMPIA. Dinner and overnight in OLYMPIA.

Day 3:  In the morning after breakfast visit the archaeological site and the museum of OLYMPIA. Drive via PATRAS to RION, cross the channel to ANTIRION on the "state of the art" new suspended bridge considered to be the longest and most modern in Europe. Arrive in NAFPAKTOS, then continue to DELPHI. Dinner and overnight in DELPHI.

Day 4: In the morning after breakfast, visit the archaeological site and the museum of DELPHI. Then start the drive back to ATHENS. Overnight in Athens.

Day 5: After breakfast enjoy a half-day morning tour of Athens, combining many of the cities principal modern and classical sights. This tour includes an overview of the modern city and striking contrasts to the remains of its glorious past. Drive by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Parliament House on Constitution Square, the Panathenian Stadium (site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896). See the Presidential Palace (ex Royal Palace), government buildings and elegant homes. Drive along Panepistimiou Avenue and see the Catholic Cathedral, the Academy, University, National Library and Omonia Square. In contrast, we visit the Roman Temple of Olympian Zeus and the crowning beauty and glory that was Athens, the Acropolis with its many monuments atop its rocky base, including the awesome Parthenon, the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike and the Erechtheum with its Porch of Maidens. We also visit the Acropolis Museum. Return to the hotel. Afternoon is free. Overnight in Athens.

 

Day 6: After breakfast, check-out and departure on your own to the airport.
