5 Days Classical Greece Tour

Visits to Athens - Delphi - Mycenae - Epidaurus – Nafplion)

 

Day 1: Arrival to Athens. Transfer on your own to the hotel. Check-in and overnight.

Day 2: Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a half-day morning tour of Athens, combining many of the cities principal modern and classical sights. This tour includes an overview of the modern city and striking contrasts to the remains of its glorious past. Drive by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Parliament House on Constitution Square, the Panathenian Stadium (site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896). See the Presidential Palace (ex Royal Palace), government buildings and elegant homes. Drive along Panepistimiou Avenue and see the Catholic Cathedral, the Academy, University, National Library and Omonia Square. In contrast, we visit the Roman Temple of Olympian Zeus and the crowning beauty and glory that was Athens, the Acropolis with its many monuments atop its rocky base, including the awesome Parthenon, the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike and the Erechtheum with its Porch of Maidens. We also visit the Acropolis Museum. Return to the hotel. Overnight.

Day 3: Breakfast at the hotel. Drive through Levadia and Arachova (famous for its bright multicoloured carpets). Arrive in DELPHI, the ancient sanctuary of Apollo. Visit the Museum where one can see among other archaeological treasures, the unique bronze Charioteer, then proceed through the sacred way to the Athenian treasury. Visit the Temple of Apollo, the Castalia Spring. Return to the hotel in Athens for overnight.

Day 4: Breakfast at the hotel. Drive along the coastal road of the Saronic Gulf to MYCENAE, visit the remains of the ancient city, including the lionesses gate, the tomb of Agamemnon and the Palace. Then through ARGOS on to NAFPLION. After lunch at a local restaurant and visit EPIDAURUS and its theatre, famous for its remarkable acoustics. Return to the hotel in Athens via the Epidaurus /Corinth road. Afternoon free. Overnight.

Day 5: After breakfast, check-out and departure on your own to the airport.
